Q. What if I haven't had a speech-language evaluation within the  last six months?
    A. We will be happy to complete an evaluation with you for an additional charge of
$175 before the program begins. It is necessary to have an evaluation to determine
if you are an appropriate candidate for the program.

Q. Will my spouse or caregiver be allowed in the sessions with me?
     A. At this time, caregivers are not allowed into the sessions. However, if your caregiver          is with you during non-therapy hours, your therapist will provide education and
feedback. Formal feedback and discussion of goals will occur at least twice during
the duration of the program. We will also provide recommendations for home
        carry-over of your skills.

Q. Is there a cost for the program?
    A. Yes, there is a fee for this program. We charge less than half of what hospitals
and other outpatient facilities charge per hour of private pay therapy. Please click
       here for this information.

Q. Are there payment options available?
A. Yes. There is a pre-payment option which allows you to pay for a course of intensive
therapy up to one year before you plan to attend the program. In the event that
there are extenuating circumstances which do not allow you to attend, we will
gladly refund your money minus a 5% space-saving fee.
You may also receive $1000 of the cost of the program by paying the entire amount
before the program begins in a lump-sum payment. This offer is good only until
12/31/08. Contact our center for details.

Q. Will you have other programs after this summer?
A. We plan to run other sessions next year all throughout the year. Please check the
        website periodically for schedule updates.

Q. Will my insurance pay for this?
A. To our knowledge, intensive aphasia treatment is not covered by insurance. We
are not accepting commercial insurance at this time. However, we would be happy
to discuss the process by which your insurance may partially reimburse you using
out-of-network benefits. If you wish to do this, you MUST inform the clinic intake
advisor prior to enrolling in the program so that proper medical support can be
        established.

Q. Are accommodations available?
    A. The office is located central to area hotels, condominiums, apartments, and an
assisted living facility. Accommodations are not included in the program fee and are
the responsibility of the client. We can provide you with a listing of nearby facilities
at your request. See our housing and tranportation options on the Aphasia Center
       web page.

Q. I had a stroke several years/months ago, can I still benefit from speech-language
    therapy?
    A. Yes, there is the potential to continue to make gains throughout your life. While you
will make the most gains in the 6-9 months following your stroke, you may still
continue to make gains at a slower rate. Your brain can still form new pathways and
still reorganize to learn new skills and increase previous language skills. As with
any treatment, motivation, follow-through, and practice are essential.
